Vienna-based Slovenian composer and guitarist Timotej Kosovinc composes for a variety of musical instruments and is especially successful in the field of concert music. As a composer and guitarist he is a laureate of numerous international competitions and a regular guest in prominent concert halls such as Musikverein (Vienna, Austria), Slovenska filharmonija (Ljubljana, Slovenia) or Cankarjev Dom (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and in various festivals and summer schools such as Wien Modern, Intonation Ungarn, Forum Gitarre Wien, Liechtensteiner Gitarrentage or Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla. His music is being performed regularly by him and others in various tours throughout the world. He also collaborates with many other musicians and artists in different groups and in international projects, especially in the duo
with the cellist Cristina Basili.
In 2022, his debut CD The Good Moment (Contrastes Records, distributed by Naxos and Universal), where he is performing his own guitar music, was released. The CD has received a lot of international attention leading to concerts in many important music festivals and concert venues throughout the world.
He studied at the University of Music Vienna, where he studied guitar with professor Alvaro Pierri as well as composition and music theory with professor Detlev Müller-Siemens. For his exceptional academic achievements he was awarded the honor award of the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research of the Republic of Austria in 2019 and in 2020, he received the honor award of the University of Music Vienna for his guitar studies.
